Paint adhesion failure on an Auto-Trail Tracker
Today we completed paint rectification work on this Auto-Trail Tracker motorhome.
It arrived with clear signs of paint adhesion failure across the bonnet. A previous repair had not been prepared correctly. As a result, the lacquer began to peel and the surface started to deteriorate.
Over time, poor preparation causes coatings to fail. First, the clear coat lifts. Then moisture and dirt work their way underneath. Eventually, the damage spreads and the finish looks patchy and dull. Unfortunately, this is a common issue when earlier repairs cut corners.
So, we stripped the affected area back to a stable base. Next, we thoroughly cleaned and keyed the surface to promote proper adhesion. Only then did we refinish the panel using professional colour-matching and lacquer techniques. Throughout the process, we focused on precision and consistency.
Importantly, we avoided a full bonnet respray. Instead, we restored only the damaged area while preserving as much of the original finish as possible. As a result, the bonnet now has a smooth, durable, factory-fresh appearance. The vehicle is ready for the forecourt once again.
We regularly correct poor previous repairs. In addition, we fix cosmetic paintwork issues such as scuffs, scratches, lacquer peel, stone chips and vandal damage.
Above all, we aim to carry out repairs properly so the results last.
